WJ Church Opening Stone

Catholic Mass is held at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary on any 5th Sunday of a month.

The Church is available for Inter-denominational Services and Weddings.

A Mass celebrating the 50 years anniversary of the Our Lady of the Rosary Church was held on the 19th September 2004.

About 130 people attended the Celebration and Morning Tea, with quite a number of WJ locals, a large contingent from St Augustines Yass and a number of Priests and other dignitaries and officials from the Catholic Church. Many speakers highlighted the enormous interdenominational effort that went into the fundraising and building of the Church 50 years ago.

Amongst the congregation, there were quite a few people who were in attendance at the official opening 50 years ago, and their recollections and stories were of great interest to everyone. A lovely Morning Tea at the Memorial Hall was greatly enjoyed by everyone, and I am sure no one would have had any room for lunch!

There was a display of photos showing Weddings and many other events that had been held in the Church over the years, many a chuckle was heard from people recognising young faces of some not quite so young friends...

A special note of thanks must go to Dianne Carey who organised the whole event
Thanks Dianne...
